More on "Pico: The White Paper Act" Rape of 2,000 Italian Women, Death of 800 Italian Men by ALLIES in WWII in 2 Days

The ANNOTICO Report

I have already received a number of disbelieving, and sassy responses to my Report on Atrocities and Massacres in Italy during WWII, with most questioning the Report of the French Moroccan Goumiers at Monte Cassino.

Again I say, in the area just beyond Monte Cassino, in the village of Ciociaria, within 50 hours, 2000 Italian Woman from age 8 to 85 were Raped REPEATEDLY, and 800 Italian Men were killed in attempting to protect the women, by FRENCH Moroccan Goumiers.

This was NOT just a Renegade or Rogue action, BUT was  authorized and approved  in ADVANCE by General Alphonse Juin, General De Gaulle, supreme commander of the French forces, and Mr Andre Diethelm, minister for foreign affairs of the French government in exile,  British general, Harold Alexander, and US General Mark Clark !!!!!

Based on true historical facts. During early spring of 1944 in the Mount Cassino war ravaged area, the Allied armies were stymied by the formidable, well entrenched German enemy.

For the commander of the American Fifth Army, time is running out. His chance at liberating Rome--and obtaining a glorious place in history are eroding daily. General Mark Clark has an ace in the hole, the dreaded, vicious Moroccan Goumier mountain troops for whom atrocities is a way of life. Ultimately, he decides to authorize atrocities for the sake of historical glory. The Italian populace referred the horrific event as "The White Paper Act." A must for readers interested in historical events and yes, indeed, it really happened!

The final attack for the taking of Monte Cassino began  on May 14, 1944. The "allied" troops on the line were a rag-tag army of irregulars (the "goumiers") in the "Corps Expeditionnaire Fran?ais" from French african colonies, Algiers, Morocco and, in a small number, Senegal. Their commander was General Alphonse Juin who, before the battle began, sent his troops this pep-up message:
"Soldiers! it's not only the freedom of your land that I'm offering you if you'll win this battle. Beyond the enemy lines there are women, houses, wine of the best in the world, there is gold. All this will be yours if you win. You'll have to kill all the Germans to the last man, and get through at any cost. What I said and promised, I will maintain. For fifty hours, you'll be the absolute masters of whatever you find beyond the enemy lines. Nobody will punish you for whatever you'll do, nobody will hold you accountable for what you'll take."

Not bad as a pep-up proclamation, wasn't it, in the year of grace 1944, from a flag officer in the army of a supposedly civilized western country. What makes it all the better was that it was addressed to those troops in the presence, right there in the region (Esperia, in Ciociaria) of two top French officials - none the less than General De Gaulle, supreme commander of the French forces and of the French Liberation Committee, and Mr Andre Diethelm, minister for foreign affairs of the French government in exile: they both approved Juin's announcement. A hand was lent by the British general, Harold Alexander, whose whole effort consisted of setting that 50 hours limit to the time in which those men would be absolute masters in the area. What he needed was a breach for his 78th British Division to pass through.

Juin, DeGaulle, Diethelm, Alexander: all co-responsible.

There were 2,000 women (anywhere from 8 to 85 year old) raped, of which 20% contracted syphilis, 90% gonorrhea; many got pregnant from their rape; more than 800 men were killed while trying to help the women of their families, and 40% of men contracted the diseases from their wives. 81% of buildings was destroyed, 90% of cattle, sheep herds, domestic animals taken away. All family belongings (jewels, clothing, money) were stolen. These are statistics from a report of the '50's

There is very little other literature available on this tragic and horrific event!!!!!
Do we merely relegate these victims to the dustbins of history, or do we memorialize these events, and better try to use them as a way to avoid their repetition, although we seem to have short memories, as we view 100,000 Iraqi Civilian deaths as merely "Collateral Damage". Certainly not as "uncivilized and barbaric" as Ciociaria, But more deadly!!!!
